"Idaho Geology" wins Emmy from NATAS NW

June 17 2013 by Peter Morrill

On Saturday night, June 15, in Seattle, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Northwest Chapter, honored Outdoor Idaho: Idaho Geology, A Convergence of Wonders, an Emmy in the Science/Health Program category. What makes me most proud of this program is the fact that it benefited from the contributions practically our entire production team in one way or another including Bruce Reichert, Pat Metzler, Jay Krajic, Hank Nystrom, Jeff Tucker, John Crancer, Sauni Symonds, Marcia Franklin, Aaron Kunz, Joan Cartan-Hansen, Ricardo Ochoa, Dave Butler and Chuck Cathcart. In addition, geologist guides Bill Bonnichsen and Marty Godchaux, and all the recreation adventurers, helped us tell the amazing geological story of Idaho.

Congratulations to our very talented team!

Idaho Holocaust Rememberance 2013

April 12 2013 by Peter Morrill

Idaho Public Television was proud to provide live streaming of the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony in the Lincoln Auditorium at the Idaho Statehouse on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013.

An archived video of the event can be viewed at: http://idahoptv.org/video/holocaustRemembrance.cfm

Some of the people tuning in live included Dana Lough, a student at NYU in Prague, who wrote on her Facebook page, “Despite an eight hour time difference and being over 5,000 miles away, I'm currently watching the live broadcast of the Idaho Holocaust Remembrance ceremony.”

The service included a proclamation from Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, designating April 7-14, 2013 as “Days of Remembrance Week” in Idaho, and included comments from Lt. Gov. Brad Little, Rep. Elliot Werk, Boise Mayor Dave Bieter and Boise City Councilmember Lauren McLean.

IdahoPTV producer and host Marcia Franklin also read an essay entitled “Why Remember?”

Gov. Otter also recognized two World World II veterans—Charles W. “Chick” Blakley of the Army Air Corps, who was the recipient of a Purple Heart in 1943 after his plane was shot down and he evaded capture with the aid of the French Resistance; and Perry Eric “Dave” Davis, Jr. of the U.S. Navy Reserve, the recipient of an Air Medal and Gold Star.

Coverage of the event included:

Boise Weekly article
