Separation of Church and State

A recent Beliefnet poll reveals that 55 percent of Americans believe the United States was founded as a Christian nation. Yet, George Washington actually railed against the interference of the clergy in government matters.

This week, religious historian and author Forrest Church joins host Joan Cartan-Hansen for a conversation about his new book, So Help Me God: The Founding Fathers and the First Great Battle Over Church and State, and what our nation's forefathers really thought about God and politics.
