To the federal government, Sami Al-Hussayen is a supporter of terrorism. To his friends in Moscow, Idaho, he's a valued community member. Al-Hussayen is currently on trial in federal court. Reporters covering the story talk about the importance of the case with Marcia Franklin.
Hussayen, a Saudi student studying at the University of Idaho, faces charges of providing material support to terrorists, in part by operating Web sites for certain Islamic groups. He also faces charges of immigration fraud for allegedly working while on a student visa. Al-Hussayen says he's innocent, and was just volunteering for established Islamic religious and educational groups.
