Be Outside!

When was the last time you spent time outdoors? A University of Maryland study reports a 50 percent drop in the number of 9 to 12 year-olds who spent time in outdoor activities. Scientists call this nature deficit disorder. But scientists and doctors both know humans need to spend time in the outdoors to stay healthy. If you get outside and do things, you feel better. Why? What can you do outside?

The guest scientists for "Be Outside!" are:

  • Kerry McClay, Snow School Coordinator, Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area
  • Gary Thompson, Operations and Leadership Director, McCall Outdoor Science School
