Bio for Frank Lester

Safety/Education Coordinator, Aeronautics Division, Idaho Transportation Department

Frank Lester has been with the Idaho Transportation Department, Division of Aeronautics, for close to 15 years, specializing in public outreach. As the Division Safety Coordinator, he provides information for Idaho's many registered pilots through safety seminars, mountain flying clinics, safety articles and safety meetings. He is the editor of the Division's statewide newsletter, "Rudder Flutter."

As the Division's Aviation Education Coordinator, Frank provides information on aviation to the public. He also provides career information to high schools through career days, career fairs and the annual Aviation Career Exploration (ACE) Academy. He visits schools to talk about flight and organizes workshops for teachers to demonstrate the benefits of using aviation in the classroom, especially in science and math. In these workshops he provides the teachers with classroom-ready activities and lesson plans that align with national and state standards. Frank produces a small, online newsletter for teachers called "Flightpaths" and speaks at various teacher in-service meetings about aviation in the classroom.

Frank has been a pilot for more than 40 years, 22 of them flying planes for the Air Force. He's getting ready to retire in July 2012.

Pilot And Certified Flight Instructor, McCall Mountain/Canyon Flying Seminars

Lori MacNichol, Commercial Airline Transport Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor, is the founder and owner of McCall Mountain/Canyon Flying Seminars, a flight school located in McCall, Idaho. The school has been in business now for 17 years and specializes in training pilots to fly in mountainous and wilderness backcountry terrain.

Lori conducts aviation safety seminars for general aviation pilots and many government and advanced specialty groups such as the US Air Force and the US Border Patrol.

She considers herself blessed to be able to do what she enjoys most, which is teaching pilots how to operate safely in the Idaho Backcountry in the dirt.
