Licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer since 1982. Dr. Schmeckpeper received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University in 1978 and his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1992. Currently an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho teaching courses in Structural Analysis, Design of Steel Structures, Design of Concrete Structures, and Bridge Design.

Prior to his work at the University of Idaho, Dr. Schmeckpeper worked as a Civil Engineer on construction projects located in Washington, Idaho, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and New Hampshire.
