Jeff Rohlman Biography

In his youth, Jeff Rohlman became quite adept at maneuvering his way through the concrete jungles near Dallas, Texas. Tired of the city life, Jeff fled Texas to take a job with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and assist Dr. John Beecham with his studies of black bear ecology.

Jeff's devotion to studying black bear ecology led to a career as a research biologist with the Department, which further advanced to the study of grizzly bear ecology in the Selkirk Mountains of north Idaho. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Idaho. Jeff also obtained his master's degree from Idaho writing a thesis titled "Black Bear Ecology near Priest Lake, Idaho." He has co-authored scientific papers and a book on Idaho black bears with Dr. John Beecham titled "A Shadow in the Forest, Idaho's Black Bear".

Jeff is currently a Regional Wildlife Manager for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. He still dabbles in black bear research in addition to his management responsibilities for all wildlife species in west-central Idaho. Jeff and his wife, Erin, live in the Idaho mountains near New Meadows.
