L. Eric Greenwade is the HPC (High Performance Computing) and Visualization Group Leader at the INEEL. His undergraduate and graduate degrees are in mathematics with a strong emphasis in physics and chemistry. He worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico prior to coming to the INEEL in 1987. He has designed and built four visualization laboratories at the INEEL, each with increased capability in virtual reality. He represents the INEEL, DoE and the US at multiple national and international conferences annually, including 5 international conferences last year. While his present focus is on the needs of the INEEL and worldwide technical community, he enjoys teaching and hopes to take a more active role in the future. He has taught at the university level for a number of years and has mentored several students for each of the past 15 years. His philosophy on education was best summarized by Richard Feynman who stated, "If the student doesn't understand, its the instructor who is at fault."
