JOHN JURCEVIC Biography I
am from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. I have been interested
in astronomy since I was about six years old and have pursued that
career path ever since. I did my undergraduate work at the University
of NSW in Sydney where I completed my B.Sc. in physics. I
went to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, for my doctoral degree
in astrophysics. While I was a graduate student I spent one year
as the WIYN intern - working with the 3.5-meter WIYN telescope at
Kitt Peak, AZ. After graduate school I worked for two years as a
post-doctoral research scientist at the McDonald Observatory of
the University of Texas at Austin. For the past year I have been
an assistant professor of physics at Albertson College. My
research is in the area of observational cosmology - mostly developing
ways of measuring the distance to galaxies. |
