For more than two decades, Idaho Public Television has been Idaho's 'station of record' for candidate debates. In October 2006, we'll continue that tradition with debates for five statewide candidate races as well as the initiatives, advisory vote, and constitutional amendment appearing on November's general election ballot.

Candidates will be selected for the debates by the League of Women Voters, the Idaho Press Club and Idaho Public Television. Among other criteria, candidates have to show that they have an "active campaign." Lack of evidence of an active campaign, and/or the lack of an opponent, mean that some candidates will not have a debate.

Election day is November 7th. Polls open at 8:00 a.m. in most locations, 7:00 a.m. in others. Visit our Election Basics page to learn more. And remember, Idaho has same-day voter registration. If you are not registered to vote, just take proof of your address, like a utility bill or rent receipt, and photo identification and cast your ballot. Let your voice be heard!
