The Idaho Debates returns in October 2006 with candidate debates for the general election.

For more than two decades, Idaho Public Television has been Idaho's 'station of record' for candidate debates. Beginning Tuesday, May 9, we continue that tradition with debates between statewide candidates in the primary elections.

Candidates were selected for the debates by the League of Women Voters, the Idaho Press Club and Idaho Public Television. Among other criteria, candidates had to show that they had an "active campaign." Lack of evidence of an active campaign, and/or the lack of an opponent, mean that some candidates do not have a debate. You are encouraged to visit the Idaho Secretary of State's website to see the complete list of primary candidates. You can also visit our Election Basics page for links to Idaho political parties, where you can find information on candidates not participating in a debate.

Election day is May 23rd. Polls open at 8:00 a.m. in most locations, 7:00 a.m. in others. Visit our Election Basics page to learn more. And remember, Idaho has same-day voter registration. If you are not registered to vote, just take proof of your address, like a utility bill or rent receipt, and photo identification and cast your ballot. Let your voice be heard. Vote!
