The Idaho Debates
For more than three decades, Idaho Public Television has been Idaho's "station of record" for candidate debates. This general election season, we continue that tradition with debates in races for Idaho's 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts.
The Idaho Debates were held at the state Capitol building in Boise.
2nd Congressional District
The debate: Sunday, Oct. 28
Seven-term GOP Congressman Mike Simpson meets up with a Statehouse veteran, Democratic state Sen. Nicole LeFavour from Boise. Simpson was a dentist and the Idaho House speaker before being elected to Congress. LeFavour is a writing teacher who served time in both the Idaho House and the Senate. View the 2nd Congressional District debate page.
1st Congressional District
The debate: Thursday, Oct. 25
In this race for the western Idaho district that runs from Canada to Nevada, 1st-term Republican Congressman Raul Labrador faces a Democratic newcomer, former NFL player and Lewiston native Jimmy Farris, as well as a couple of other candidates: Pro-Life, the independent who officially changed his name from Marvin Richardson several years ago, and Libertarian Rob Oates. View the 1st Congressional District debate page.
Labrador and Farris have qualified for the debate. For more information on how this works, read our Rules and Criteria page.
