1860 -- Franklin - First permanent settlement Homestead Act

1863 -- Idaho becomes a territory Wheat planted on Camas prairie

1860’s -- Farmers and ranchers sell food to miners Herds of cattle brought in

1874 -- Utah Northern railroad built into Franklin

1883 -- Oregon Short Line completed across Idaho Northern Pacific completed across Idaho

1886-87 -- Hard winter kills thousands of cattle
