About Outdoor Idaho

Outdoor Idaho celebrates the incredible richness of Idaho. Shot entirely on location, Outdoor Idaho explores the beauty, the drama, the science of nature, while examining the significant environmental and resource issues facing the intermountain West.

Now in its 25th season, Outdoor Idaho has been honored for its writing style, its breathtaking videography, its fairness, and its adherence to the highest technical standards.

The program has won several hundred national and regional awards, including Emmys, CINE Golden Eagles, Gold Medals from the New York Film Festival, the Worldfest International Film Festival, the Society of Professional Journalists, and others.

Created in 1983 as a joint venture of Idaho Public Television and the Idaho Fish & Game Department, Outdoor Idaho became the sole property of IdahoPTV in 1990. At that time the program evolved from a magazine style format to a single topic format.
