In southwest Idaho is a dramatic and unforgiving landscape known as the Owyhee Canyonlands. It's some of the wildest and most beautiful country in the west. For decades it has also been the center of controversy. But the conflict over how best to use these public lands has now become consensus, the result of eight long years of hard bargaining. A collection of local groups with diverse viewpoints found common ground and worked together to craft landmark legislation known as the Owyhee Initiative.
