"When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race."
"Cycling Idaho" wheels around the state to showcase some of the best bicycling opportunities in Idaho. From rolling farmland to steep mountains, Idaho's varied landscape makes for great cycling.
The 30-minute program also highlights different types of bicycling:
- For those looking for a more casual ride, we bike along the 73-mile long smooth and flat Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes in northern Idaho.
- For a backcountry biking experience, the program also looks at the controversy over whether mountain bikes should be allowed in certain parts of Central Idaho.
- For women interested in bike touring over longer distances, the documentary features a piece on Driggs-based WomanTours, the only cycling company in the United States to design bike tours specifically for women.
- And finally, for a more high intensity workout, we go for a spin with the racing community in Boise, which is gaining a reputation for developing professional cyclists like Olympian Kristin Armstrong.
"Not only are there so many beautiful places to cycle in Idaho, but there are so many different bike styles now," says producer Marcia Franklin, a cycling enthusiast herself. "There's a bike for everyone, and all that's left is for you to go out and spin!"
