Family Ranch Heritage

“We really forget about just going back to the basics and what it is like to be a family and work together and to try and keep a family business going …It’s really important for people today and tomorrow to know that this still does exist. This is our livelihood, this is our life.”
-- Sheila Small, from Outdoor Idaho’s Family Ranch Heritage

Tucked away in a remote corner of Idaho is one of the oldest family ranches in the state. The Smalls have been working their land northwest of Dubois for over one-hundred and thirty years. It all started with great granddad Dennis Small in the late 1870s and today the fifth generation of Smalls is still running the ranch he founded well over a century ago.
