Molly and Mary Frances Small
Molly and Mary Frances Small not only help with chores on the ranch and go to school, they have also inherited Butch’s passion for rodeo. While they compete in different events they know what it takes to win. Both girls have qualified in their specialties for the annual state high school rodeo finals. “To me, people love playing basketball, people love playing volleyball. I just like rodeo-ing. I love it, working with my horses and then doing everything. …I have done barrel racing, the pole bending, everything but my favorite was the goat tying and the breakaway roping and I figured, you know what, if those are my favorite and I love doing them just for fun, then I’m going to do that and be the best at those two events.
While the girls plan on going on to college, they look forward to returning to the ranch. Both think the Small place is pretty special. “It’s amazing that we’re still here and we have tradition going on to keep the family generations going and this ranch going and in the good condition it is right now for a long time. It’s just amazing.”
