Butch’s wife Sheila was raised in the east but has quickly adapted to life on an Idaho ranch. She really appreciates what the western lifestyle has to offer and is particularly proud of her two daughters.
“A lot of people who come out here say, you’re in God’s country and we are. We definitely are because it’s just beautiful. It has a beauty of its own. …The Small ranch is one of the very few in the country like this that is still going – our daughters are the fifth generation and to me words can’t even describe my feelings on that. Sometimes I look out in the distance and I think, gosh I can’t believe I’m here and I can’t believe I’m a part of this. But not only that, our daughters are going to carry on the tradition.”
