The historic Clark House
North Idaho offers so many delights for a getaway. Joan Cartan-Hansen and her daughter, Samantha, and son, Harrison, pick the Coeur d'Alene area for their family getaway. They start by checking into the historic Clark House, once Idaho's most expensive home, now and an elegant bed and breakfast. Joan's first adventure is a golf lesson at the Coeur d' Alene Golf Resort and an attempt at one of America's most challenging hole's, the resort's floating green. Next, the whole family explores Silverwood, the Northwest's largest amusement park. The day ends with a dinnertime cruise on Lake Coeur 'd Alene. The next morning, everyone's up early to take a hot air balloon ride. The views are spectacular, but the ride ends with a frightening high-wind landing. Afterwards, the family is honored in a traditional post hot air balloon ceremony. Joan and Samantha then relax with some pampering at the Spa at the Coeur d' Alene Resort. The family finishes the getaway with dinner in one of the Clark House's private dining rooms, a sumptuous way to end their North Idaho adventure.
