The following sad statistics are from the Boise Police Department's Task Force on Domestic Violence:
- Idaho ranks second in the nation in substantiated cases of physical and sexual abuse, and first in the nation in reports of child abuse.
- In 50% of cases where domestic violence is present, child abuse is also present.
- 63% of boys ages 11-20 who are incarcerated for murder have killed their mother's assaulter.
- Children in homes where there is domestic violence are 1000 times more likely to commit domestic violence as adults.
- Children in homes where there is domestic violence are 74% more likely to commit crimes of violence.
- Children in domestic violence homes are six times more likely to commit suicide.
- Girls whose mothers are being assaulted are 65% more likely to be sexually assaulted.
- 80% of runaways are from domestic violence homes.
