NEW RELIGION AND ETHICS DISCUSSION KITS AVAILABLE
RELIGION AND ETHICS NEWSWEEKLY, airing each Saturday at 2:30/1:30 p.m. MT/PT, examines current events and public affairs from a religious and ethical point of view, providing an opportunity for fascinating and provocative discussion. IdahoPTV is pleased to be able to offer discussion groups an outreach kit that contains video clips from the series that can be used to frame a discussion. A discussion leader's guide provides insights, additional resources, and tips on hosting successful, non-confrontational discussions.
This year's outreach kit features video clips from four topic areas. Saving Lives, Saving Souls covers parish nursing and a church health center where doctors and nurses donate skills and time. Religion & Public Schools looks at the realities of first amendment issues and the study of religions in public school classrooms, hosted by Charles Haynes of the Freedom Forum. When the Faithful Lose Faith in Marriage covers Single Moms by Choice, same-sex unions, spousal abuse, and cohabitation. Whose God? Who's God? explores various views of God in our increasingly diverse religious society.
There are many models for events based on this thought-provoking series, ranging from panelists debating local issues in a global context, to large groups which view video segments and hear presentations on a topic, then break into small discussion groups, to Bible study groups considering and discussing issues of concern in our modern society.
Outreach kits are available free for large or small groups by contacting Lynn Allen at Idaho Public Television 1-800-543-6868.
