About the Filmmaker

Environmental filmmaker John Grabowska has produced films from the subarctic to the subtropics. His films have won awards at festivals around the world and are broadcast as primetime specials on PBS. He has lectured on environmental film at The National Geographic Society and The Smithsonian Institution, led environmental media workshops in Argentina and Panama and and is co-founder of the American Conservation Film Festival. The Washington Post calls him "one of the virtuoso environmental filmmakers in the country." Sky Island is his fifth natural history film in collaboration with Idaho Public Television.
