FORMAT FOR RESEARCH REPORT
Bill Research: 1. Select a bill currently before the Legislature or select a topic for your own bill. 2. Research the selected topic by calling the contact names on the state of purpose (if using an actual bill) or by finding individuals interested in the topic. Call germane state of federal agencies that may have information. You may need to do this after school on your own time. Search on the internet and in magazines, newspapers or books. 3. Document your efforts to reach contacts and list sources of information and where you found them. 4. Summarize the information gathered from each individual and from each source. One or two paragraphs on each one is appropriate. Include documentation on where you found the source with each summary. Turn in on a separate piece of paper from your report.
Bill Report: 1. Write a paragraph in your own words describing the bill and what it would do if it were to become law. 2. Write at least three (3) "pro" (for) and at least (3) "con" (against) arguments on your bill designed for easy reference during debate. Use a "bullet" format to assist anyone who refers to your report sheet in debate. 3. Attach Bill Research report and a copy of your bill.
