"The Interrupters"
Director Steve James (Hoop Dreams, Stevie) follows the inner workings of CeaseFire and the former gang members who have become the interrupters. The innovative program in Chicago is designed to prevent shootings in a city where 37 people were shot in one weekend during 2008. The interrupters report weekly on the simmering disputes and the senseless shootings in their neighborhoods; their goal is to stop the violence before it happens. G
