Reluctant draftee Nancy, patriotic Joyce, and sisters Bea and Annie, who are escaping an abusive father, join the Women's Land Army during World War II. They are urban women sent to work on farms to replace the manpower overseas with the military. Nancy and Annie find themselves in a life- or-death situation.
