In 1909 a group of Oklahoma residents - many of them community leaders - avenge the murder of a popular local rancher and former U.S. Deputy Marshall A. A. "Gus" Bobbitt by lynching the four men suspected of the crime. This vigilante act rips apart the community and brings shame to citizens struggling to distance themselves from backwater violence. G
