Game hens scented with garlic, cumin, and fiery Peruvian chiles acquire golden, crackling-crisp skin while turning on the spit. D

Yan Can Cook: Spice Kingdom  "That Which Sustains Life"  The origin of Chengdu can be credited to Dujiangyan, a set of levies that diverted the Min River over 2,000 years ago. Martin visits this UNESCO historical site and saw first hand how the water had created the fertile farmland which eventually gave rise to the city of Chengdu. He enjoys the abundance of fruits and vegetables by visiting local farms and orchards. D

Rough Cut with Fine Woodworking   Inspired by the nearby Shaker Village, host Tom McLaughlin collaborates with guest John Ryan to craft authentic reproduction Shaker oval boxes out of cherry. These boxes are iconic because of their utility and potential for customization in size and shape. John shows Tom his Shaker technique for bending strips of wood around a form, creating a smooth and beautiful Shaker box. D

Joseph Rosendo's Travelscope  "Following the reformation Trail in Switzerland and Germany - Part 2"  Joseph continues his travels through Germany and Switzerland in the path of the Protestant Reformation. He follows in the path of the reformers and learns that Switzerland's Anabaptists are the ancestors of today's U.S. Mennonites and Amish. D

Samantha Brown's Places to Love  "Houston, Texas"  In this premiere episode, Samantha visits one of the most diverse and underrated cities in the United States: Houston, Texas. From art cars to craft beer to soul-inspiring music, Samantha meets some of the most extraordinary people who guide her through the city's unique offerings. She meets a graffiti artist who has helped transition graffiti into a city-embraced street art, and who designed new packaging for Texas' oldest craft brewery. She visits a community-based initiative aimed to empower refugee women who create and sell handmade, indigenous arts and crafts, and chef Hugo Ortega, at his authentic Oaxacan restaurant, Xochi, where the food is simply astounding. To top off her trip, Samantha meets Kam Franklin, lead singer of The Suffers, who further demonstrates what Houston is all about through music in a powerful live performance.G

Martha Stewart's Cooking School  "Salads"  Salads are a terrific way to make vegetables a main course. When Martha invites guests to lunch, she loves to make frisee aux lardons, a classic French salad made with spicy greens, crisp bacon, creamy poached eggs and warm vinaigrette. Her chopped salad is based on a recipe from her daughter, Alexis - a dish that's as beautiful in presentation as it is delicious in taste. D

America's Test Kitchen from Cook's Illustrated  "Grilled Steak and Fruit Tart"  Test cook Dan Souza makes Julia perfect grill-smoked and herb-rubbed flat iron steaks, and then tasting expert Jack Bishop challenges Bridget to a tasting of mascarpone. In the Equipment Corner, expert Adam Ried reveals his top pick for tart pans, science expert Dan Souza explains the science of salting, and then test cook Elle Simone makes Bridget the ultimate fresh fruit tart. Pati's Mexican Table  "From Pueblo to City"  Pati spends a day with one of Oaxaca's best-known chefs and owner of Casa Oaxaca, Alex Ruiz. Alex takes Pati on a personal journey through his favorite market and family farm, showing her the Oaxaca that he knows and loves. In her kitchen, Pati creates some family friendly recipes inspired by her day with Alex and serves them to her son Juju. D
