Free: The Power of Performance   In a city infamous for crime and high dropout rates, the Destiny Arts Center in Oakland, California, provides a safe place for teens to share their stories, build community, and express themselves through dance. Each year, 20 students from a variety of backgrounds are accepted into the Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company, where they spend months creating an original production based on their lives. Under the thoughtful guidance of Destiny's artistic director, Sarah Crowell, each journey reveals how collaborative art can serve as a foundation for personal discovery, growth, resilience and hope. D

America ReFramed  "Winter at Westbeth"  The elderly residents of Westbeth Artists Housing in New York City are immersed in their art practice as though there is no tomorrow. Video artist Edith Stephen, hopes to complete an experimental film for her birthday; contemporary dancer Dudley Williams, rehearses for an electrifying return to the stage; and published poet Ilsa Gilbert, candidly weaves her experience with breast cancer into her work. A celebration of artistic exploration no matter one's age, Winter at Westbeth captures inspirational stories about aging and the need to keep creating. D

Beth Ames Swartz / Reminders of Invisible Light   Beth Ames Swartz / Reminders of Invisible Light focuses on a woman artist's resolve to choose love and creativity over fear and pain. Through her visual interpretations of historic and revered wisdom systems of knowledge, Beth Ames Swartz invites us to honor the sacredness of all life. Swartz hopes that by visually showing the interconnectedness of one belief system to another, each of us may experience a common compassion. D

New Tanglewood Tales: Backstage with Rising Artists   The Boston Symphony's behind the scenes series, New Tanglewood Tales: Backstage with Rising Artists, introduces six extraordinary young musicians who are featured in the series. Viewers will see them at home, share in their arrival and orientation, and have a humorous look at their living situation. A glimpse of their first rehearsals with teachers and colleagues will also be shown. D
