Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways  "Return to Yugoslavia"  Chris explores five countries that were part of Yugoslavia, a country which had an extensive state-run railway network before its break-up in the 1990s and the Balkan Wars of Independence that followed. From Slovenia, Chris heads east along an old Austro-Hungarian railway that was once used by the Orient Express, pays a visit to a very unusual railway-related battlefield in Bosnia and rides on one of the world's great mountain railways on his way to the Serbian capital Belgrade before finishing his journey in Montenegro. Oregon Experience  "Spirit of Tek"  When two returning World War II vets started Tektronix in December 1945, it spawns a revolution and Oregon's technology hub. The innovative company produced state-of-the- art oscilloscopes and related products. Eventually it also produces new entrepreneurs that help seed Oregon's Silicon Forest.G

Weekends With Yankee  "By The Shore"  This week on Weekends with Yankee, we spend an idyllic summer day on the shores of Cape Cod and stop in at the Chatham Bars Inn, named a 2017 Yankee Editors' Pick as "Best Family Lodging" in the state. There, we experience the ultimate farm-to-table dinner, featuring local seafood and an array of vegetables just picked from the hotel's own farm. Then co-host Richard Wiese heads to Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay for a surfing lesson, and learns why there's such surprisingly good wave action in New England. D

In The Americas with David Yetman  "Costa Rica: Laboratory of the Biosphere"  Researchers at Biosphere II in Arizona have re-created tropical rainforest in a closed environment to study the effects of climate change. Scientists compare that artificial environment with a tropical rainforest reserve in Costa Rica, a living laboratory where scientists record the effects of global warming on the forest and its dwellers. D

Oregon Field Guide  "Coyotes/Crater Lake Dying Forest/Green Building"  Coyotes move into urban areas. Scientists seek to determine what is killing the white-bark pine forests of Crater Lake.G
