Death: A Personal Understanding  "Death Rituals"  To what degree do individual circumstances require spontaneous adaptation of traditional rites? A minister who lost her brother in the Lockerbie air disaster, and a father whose failing marriage affected his role in his young son's funeral, discuss their need to adapt traditional rituals to their own circumstances. A cancer patient planning her service in advance and a veteran at a Vietnam memorial provide a comparison of private and public rituals. D

Death: A Personal Understanding  "Good Death"  Should we help people die, or force them to live? What constitutes a good death? Perspectives from native North American culture and urban medical ethicists provide background as we meet a woman facing death from breast cancer and a young family with a terminally ill infant. The special grief long-term caregivers can fall into is also discussed as we discover the ways that the dying can help to heal the living. D

Connecting with the Arts: A Teaching Practices Library, 6-8  "Two Dance Collaborations"  In a first-time collaboration, a dance teacher and a science teacher combine forces to explore the laws of motion with a seventh- and eighth-grade dance class. At another school, a dance teacher and a math teacher work with sixth graders on imaginative interpretations of the idea of circles. D

Connecting with the Arts: A Teaching Practices Library, 6-8  "Constructing A Community"  A visual art teacher and a social studies teacher use the distinctive architecture and history of their school. D

P. Allen Smith's Garden to Table  "The Emergence of Spring"  In this GARDEN TO TABLE episode, P. Allen Smith picks dandelions - not to make wishes but to create a salad! Allen also steps into the garden to plant asparagus. Plus, Allen makes an amazing tablescape using daffodils. D

Katie Brown Workshop  "Spring"  Welcome spring with vintage-inspired remnant tablecloth and framed vases and recipes including green garden soup and an apricot almond cake. D

Garden SMART   Spring is a magical time of year. Everything is turning green, color is popping everywhere. GardenSMART visits an historic estate awash with beautiful spring color to learn what steps should be taken to help make your yard look great too. D

Burt Wolf: Taste of Freedom  "Easter"  Burt learns the intricate Ukraine egg decorating tradition, inspects jeweled eggs and walks down New York's Fifth Avenue on Easter.G

New Scandinavian Cooking with Andreas Viestad  "The Sun Is Back!"  Norwegians flock to Geillo during Easter. Here, Andreas prepares grilled cheese sandwiches and trout with orange curry butter.G

Katie Brown Workshop  "Easter"  Chef Chris Paulk creates stuffing from leftover bread, a Cornish hen with mushroom sauce and fruitopia skewers. She decorates the table for Easter.G

Ciao Italia  "Nonna Galasso's Neapolitan Easter Bread / Casatiello alla Nonna Galasso"  There's no place like home, and no cook like Grandma Galasso. Mary Ann remembers her Nonna's traditional Easter treat when she prepares Grandma Galasso's Savory Filled Neapolitan Easter Bread. Stuffed with mouthwatering chunks of Mortadella and Provolone, it's a childhood memory come to life. D

P. Allen Smith's Garden Home  "Triumphant Tulips"  Spring is approaching at the Garden Home Retreat and the daffodils and tulips are now filling the landscape with vibrant color. It's also time for Allen to plant herbs and vegetables. A check of the swans reveals how they've adjusted to their new habitat since arriving in late fall. D

Assessment In Math and Science: What's The Point?  "I Didn't Know This Was An English Class"  One measure of students' depth of understanding is the connections they can make across disciplines. This workshop explores how teachers canencourage these connections by designing performance tasks that build on other disciplines. D
