Art in the Twenty-First Century  "Johannesburg"  Since the dramatic fall of apartheid in 1994, Johannesburg has emerged as the artistic capital of sub-Saharan Africa. Collectively, the artists in this hour use their work to empower marginalized communities, reexamine history, and pursue their visions for South Africa's future. The "Johannesburg" episode features David Goldblatt, Nicholas Hlobo, Zanele Muholi, and Robin Rhode.G

Art, Passion & Power: The Story of the Royal Collection  "Palaces & Pleasuredomes"  Andrew Graham-Dixon continues his exploration of the Royal Collection, the vast collection of art and decorative objects owned by the Queen. In the third episode he has reached the age of the Romantics - the flamboyant George IV who created so much of the visual look of the modern monarchy, and Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, for whom collecting was an integral part of their happy marriage. As Prince of Wales, George was a famously loose cannon - a spendaholic prince whose debts ballooned in tandem with the royal waistline. D

Harper Lee: American Masters   Explore the mysterious life of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of To Kill a Mockingbird. The documentary examines social changes the novel inspired, while interviewees reflect on the book's power, influence and popularity. Harper Lee died February 2016 at the age of 89. D

Shakespeare: The Legacy   SHAKESPEARE: THE LEGACY, hosted and narrated by John Nettles, commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death on April 23, 2016. In collaboration with Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust, the documentary unlocks some of the mysteries surrounding Shakespeare's life and the legacy of his work across the globe. Nettles takes us on a journey through the dangerous and dynamic times of Shakespeare's life and reveals something of the real man who transformed the London theatre and the English language, yet remained a Stratford man. He examines the life of the Bard, investigating key moments and trying to discover what may have happened during a seven-year period when he has disappeared from historical records.G
