Norm visits Paul Grothouse in Pennsylvania to see how he's fabricating the huge butcher block countertop with waterfall edge and dovetail key detail. Richard installs wall-mounted lavatory faucets. Ask This Old House  "Transplanting a Mature Rose Bush/Replacing Old Outdoor Lighting"  Landscape contractor Roger Cook helps a homeowner temporarily transplant a mature rose bush while exterior work takes place. Then, Roger, along with host Kevin O'Connor, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey and general contractor Tom Silva, asks, "What is it? " Afterward, Tom and Kevin replace old outdoor lighting with new fixtures. D

Growing a Greener World  "Sol Mobile Bus (Various Cities Across America)"  We follow a group of young gardeners who are traveling the country in a retro-fitted school bus powered on nothing but waste vegetable oil and their own enthusiasm. With a traveling greenhouse, green roof and lots of seeds, they hope to teach edible gardening with sustainable practices in cities and towns across America. D

Moyers & Company  "Rewriting The Story of America"  The life and work of Junot Diaz contains many worlds -- and that makes him all the more worth listening to. His books, including National Book Award finalist This Is How You Lose Her and Pulitzer Prize-winner The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, journey between the old and the new, and between the America that was and the America we're becoming. Born in the Dominican Republic, but raised in New Jersey and American to the core, Junot Diaz is a spotter of the future, a curator of the past, a man of the here-and-now. D

William and Mary   William and Mary take Kate to Oxford for her university interview. Mary tries to persuade William not to smother Kate and let her find her own way around.G

NOVA  "Building The Great Cathedrals"  Carved from 100 million pounds of stone, soaring atop a spiderweb of masonry, Gothic cathedrals are marvels of human achievement and artistry. But how did medieval builders reach such spectacular heights? Sometimes taking 100 years to build, these architectural marvels were crafted from just hand tools and stone. Many now teeter on the brink of catastrophic collapse.G

Call The Midwife Holiday Special   In this special, newly married Chummy and Nurse Jenny Lee are hard at work during their first Christmas in Nonnatus House. As nurses and nuns minister to an abandoned newborn and search for the mother, and Jenny tries to find the children of an elderly vagrant, Chummy plans an ambitious nativity play. In true Chummy fashion, mishaps ensue. D

Masterpiece Classic  "Downton Abbey, Series II - Part Seven"  In the finale, the family gathers at Downton Abbey for Christmas. D

11:00 pm 
New Tricks  "Nine Lives"  An elderly woman leaves her estate to her beloved cats but when the last of her feline beneficiaries dies, there are still unanswered questions about her death. There also is no shortage of people laying claim to the remains of the estate. The team decides to reopen the investigation into the woman's death.G
