Two burros, Alfa and Beto, carry the circulating library of donated books that 39-year-old Luis Soriano, a small-town elementary school teacher in northern Columbia, takes to isolated villages during arduous weekend journeys. The film travels with Soriano, who walks with his donkeys, through dense tropical beauty on nearly impassible trails. They face dangers from nature and humans (guerillas, bandits) to reach the villages and the children hungry for learning.G
