Unseen Life On Earth: An Introduction to Microbiology  "Energy and Growth"  There were microorganisms on earth approximately 2 billion years before any other life forms evolved. Because of this profound head- start they have evolved several different metabolic strategies for producing energy and securing the materials needed for growth. This program examines those mechanisms using examples that should be familiar to all students. D

Unseen Life On Earth: An Introduction to Microbiology  "Life's Databases"  All life on earth uses DNA as an information storage molecule. This program deals with the way that information is expressed in cellular growth and metabolism. It also examines how the tools that helped us understand the genetics of inheritance can be used to solve both environmental and health probleMs.. D

Connecting with the Arts: A Teaching Practices Library, 6-8  "Folk Tales Transformed"  A visiting theatre artist works with a language arts teacher and a visual art teacher to help eighth-graders transform folk tales into original scenes that the students perform. D

Connecting with the Arts: A Teaching Practices Library, 6-8  "Preserving A Place for the Arts"  When faced with budget cuts, the staff of a rural middle school finds innovative ways to keep the arts a viable part of the curriculum. D

Smart Travels - Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa  "Shanghai"  Rudy explores the city of skyscrapers, non-stop shopping and delicious dining. Excursions to the gardens of Suzhou and the canal town of Zhouzhuang bring the ancient past alive.G

Smart Travels - Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa  "Vancouver & Victoria, British Columbia"  Rudy explores the mix of cultures in Vancouver that inspires world-class cuisine, spirited night life and Asian shopping centers. He boards a ferry to Victoria to visit the bastion of British Heritage for afternoon tea.G

Smart Travels - Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa  "Seattle"  In this urban center surrounded by natural beauty, Rudy explores downtown, samples microbrews and lattes, noses around the neighborhoods and hops a ferry.G

Smart Travels - Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa  "Maui and Hawaii's Big Island"  Rudy makes reservations to travel the Pacific, beginning in Hawaii where he takes the twisting road to Hana with its cascading waterfalls. On the Big Island he looks for petroglyphs and peers into the world's most active volcano from a helicopter.G
