Burt tours the county, explains its history and takes viewers to some of the area's most interesting sights, including the home of the garden wizard of North America, the redwood forest, the Russian River kayaking course, and the Jim Russell NASCAR drivers school. We get an overview of the area from a 1940 vintage biplane. D

Through analysis of President Lincoln's attitudes and actions before and during the Civil War, and correspondence, speeches, legislative orders, newspaper articles, and letters written by African Americans, enslaved and free, workshop participants debate the influences prompting Emancipation.G

Genetics of Development"  Organisms as different as flies, fish, and humans share a set of genes, known as a genetic toolkit, which guides development. Cell Biology and Cancer"  Cancers result when genes required for normal cell function are mutated and the resulting cells undergo other changes ultimately leading to uncontrolled division. This session reveals new information on normal cell function, proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes and their role in the cell cycle, and current research in drug design for specific cancers. D

Afterward, Roger helps a homeowner repair a cracked stone walkway. D

Equitrekking  "Great American Ranches"  Equitrekking takes a look at how geography and history of ranches in Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, Alberta, Texas, Maui and the Big Island influence their present workings. Interviewing ranch owners and cowboys who have chosen to hold fast to their traditions and Western culture, Darley learns about running a ranch, while also seeing some of the beautiful wild terrain.
