Primary Sources: Workshops In American History  "Common Sense and the American Revolution: The Power of the Printed Word"  This workshop explores the power and importance of America's first "best-seller." Using the language of ordinary people, Thomas Paine's Common Sense called for revolution, challenging many assumptions about government and the colonies' relationship with England. This workshop contrasts the declarations of local communities with Common Sense to see how support for American independence rose up in the colonies.G

Baking with Julia  "Marcel Desaulniers"  Chef and author, Marcel Desaulniers of The Trellis in Williamsburg, Va visits Julia Child in her kitchen. Desaulniers creates a white chocolate pattycake with chocolate tulips. The viewers are told when selecting white chocolate be sure the ingredients include cocoa butter. D

Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home  "Beef"  "There's nothing as good as a good piece of meat," and as Julia is quick to point out there is less and less really good (well marbled and aged) beef to be found. Hangar Steak, Skirt Strip, Flank and Ribeye. Sauteed ribeye steak for Steak Diane, New York strip steak with crushed pepper (Steak au Poivre), sauteed chicken steak with persiallade, a classic Chateaubriand (for two, or more), les pieces de resistance: two grand All-American Hamburgers, each stacked high with Julia and Jacquess' respective favorite garnishes and condiments. D

Baking with Julia  "Norman Love"  Executive pastry chef Norman Love at Ritz Carlton in Naples, Florida visits Julia Child in her kitchen. Love creates chocolate-cinnamon beignets. Love demonstrates how to make the beignet pastry from choux paste. D

Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home  "Salmon"  Julia uses a bicycle pump to inflate parchment papillote (bag) to bake the fish. The pair also demonstrate how to filet and roast salmon.G

8:00 pm 
Baking with Julia  "Craig Kominiak"  Executive chef Craig Kominiak at Ecce Panis Bakery in New York City visits Julia Child in her kitchen. Kominiak bakes focaccia. Kominiak tests the elasticity of the dough by stretching it to see the "window" in the dough. D

Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home  "Fish"  Julia recreates a memorable Parisian meal of sole meuni re, followed by grilled halibut and poached snapper.G

9:00 pm 
Baking with Julia  "Alice Medrich"  Master teacher and chocolatier Alice Medrich from Berkeley, CA visits Julia Child in her kitchen. Medrich creates a chocolate genoise raspberry ruffle cake. Medrich provides tips on the best way to melt and shape chocolate. D

Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home  "Salad Days"  From simple mixed greens with garlic vinaigrette to Caesar and Ni oise with fresh seared tuna, there is a salad for everyone.G
