Unseen Life On Earth: An Introduction to Microbiology  "Energy and Growth"  There were microorganisms on earth approximately 2 billion years before any other life forms evolved. Because of this profound head- start they have evolved several different metabolic strategies for producing energy and securing the materials needed for growth. This program examines those mechanisms using examples that should be familiar to all students. D

Unseen Life On Earth: An Introduction to Microbiology  "Life's Databases"  All life on earth uses DNA as an information storage molecule. This program deals with the way that information is expressed in cellular growth and metabolism. It also examines how the tools that helped us understand the genetics of inheritance can be used to solve both environmental and health problems. D

Family Travel with Colleen Kelly  "Chattanooga, Tennessee - Moonpies, Incline Railway, and the View of Seven States"  The Kelly's return to Tennessee, and this time to explore a favorite family destination, Chattanooga. Here, Colleen and her family soak up the local color by tasting some delicious moonpies, and trying their hand at rock climbing in the heart of Chattanooga. They even take a ride on the world's steepest passenger railway! Then, they head to Rock City, a gorgeous mountain with a breathtaking waterfall, where they marvel at the views of not only the Tennessee mountains, but also six different states. D

Join Martha as she makes four mouthwatering regional favorites from the Great Lakes-Belgian rice pie, an unforgettable blitz torte with decadent layers of cake and crispy meringue, and Indiana sugar cream pie, otherwise known as "Hoosier pie." And for a savory twist, a quick bread made with cheddar from America's dairyland. D

Then, tasting expert Jack Bishop challenges Bridget to a tasting of soy sauce. Next, test cook Keith Dresser shows Julia how to make the ultimate scallion pancakes with dipping sauce. D
