Passport to Adventure  "Rocky Mountain Parks of Alberta, Canada"  Landing in Edmonton, we step directly into Canada's railroad history before embarking on the scenic train ride to Jasper. Touring the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, we stalk elk with our lenses, ride the "Sno Coach" onto a glacier, hike, canoe and learn about the early adventurers that made this area a renowned mountaineering center, and a mecca for nature lovers from around the globe. D

Globe Trekker  "East Texas"  Zay Harding visits Fort Worth, Dallas, Huntsville and the Johnson Space Center with Alan Bean in Houston.G

Sierra Center Stage  "Bela Fleck & The Flecktones"  Bela Fleck is considered one of the world's premier banjo players. His critically acclaimed music has been nominated in more categories than any other artist in the history of the Grammy Awards - for a total of 22 times! His band includes Victor Wooten (considered by many to be the best bass player alive), Wooten's brother "Futureman," who plays an unusual self-made drum set, and Jeff Coffin, a multi-talented woodwind player. D

Austin City Limits  "The Philharmonic Opening Gala with Itzhak Perlman"  The rising roots rock kings perform songs from their latest album, I and Love and You. Ohio-to-Austin transplants Heartless Bastards follow with their classic rock 'n' roll.G

8:00 pm 
Great Performances at the Met  "Faust"  With Jonas Kaufmann in the title role, Rene Pape as the devil and Marina Poplavskaya as Marguerite, Gounod's classic retelling of the Faust legend couldn't be better served. Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff updates the story to the first half of the 20th century. Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducts. D

11:30 pm 
Music Voyager  "Israel: Voices from the Desert"  Host Jacob Edgar travels to Israel to attend a once-in-a-lifetime concert of The Idan Raichel Project at the foot of the magnificent "Solomon's Pillars", a natural rock formation in the Negev Desert near the Red Sea resort city of Eilat. Idan Raichel, an internationally renowned star of the Israeli music scene, serves as his guide. At the technical rehearsals and sound check for the desert concert, Jacob meets the artists featured on stage. D
