Ciao Italia  "Everyone Loves Italian Food/Tutti Amano I Cibi Italiani"  Mary Ann is guest chef at the University of New Hampshire, where their talented food service staff is busy serving up Ciao Italia recipes to over 5000 hungry college students who love good food. Later that day, Mary Ann puts University President Mark Huddleston to work on the demonstration stage to prepare a savory, filling dish of Farro with Sausage and MushrooMs. Then his wife, Emma Bricker joins in for Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Roasted Vegetables. D

Hubert Keller: Secrets of a Chef  "Salads The French Way"  Chef Keller creates the kind of wonderful and enticing salads you will find in bistros and brasseries throughout France. Mixed Green Salad with Pear, Almonds and Cheese Filled Baked Potato; Spinach Salad with Poached Egg and Polenta Croutons.G

Rick Steves' Europe  "Venice: Serene, Decadent, and Still Kicking"  Rick traces the city's history. He visits famous tourist haunts and experiences places sought out by local residents in this opening episode of a new season of shows.G

Grannies On Safari  "Exotic Zanzibar, Tanzania"  The Grannies travel to this truly exotic island that is known for its spice trade, trade winds, historic Arab architecture and romantic resorts. StoneTown, the capital, is a captivating rustic city filled with veiled women, thriving markets and aromatic neighborhoods. The ladies experience an exotic dance performance on the beach, ruins and a meal fit for kings. D

P. Allen Smith's Garden Home  "The Food Show"  Allen explores Mt. Vernon Estate, learning about the vegetables and herbs George and Martha Washington grew in their gardens. He examines the rosemary hedges and what it takes to care for this versatile herb. He also looks at the abundance of fig trees that grow on the estate and shares his fig preserve recipe.G

This Old House  "Barrington Project, Part 5 of 10"  Landscape restoration specialist Kate Venturini arrives from the University of Rhode Island to create a sustainable coastal landscape with the help of local landscape contractor Henry Pereira. Builder Andy Tiplady finishes up the shingles and trim at the master bedroom porch just in time for local metalsmiths to install the custom copper gutter and scupper that will keep rain out of the space. Members of the URI Master Gardener's association lend a hand installing coastal tolerant and native plants on the site, while local sod grower Pat Hogan delivers a freshly harvested fescue/bluegrass blend that will require less water, less fertilizer and less maintenance overall. D

Grand View  "Golden Gate National Recreation Area"  Baumann sets his sites on one of the largest urban parks in the world: Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The park, which includes Alcatraz, the Marin Headlands, and the original military fortifications surrounding San Francisco, was conceived as part of a trend to make national park resources more accessible to urban populations. Interviews include Frank Heaney, Alcatraz prison guard, Heather Booth, park interpretive ranger, and Stephen Haller, civil war historian. D

Primary Sources: Workshops In American History  "Disease and History: Typhoid Mary and the Search For Perfect Control"  This workshop looks at the history of infectious disease in America, particularly typhoid, diphtheria, and polio, and their "conquest" by medical research and public health regulation. With the aid of contemporary medical journal articles and New York City health records, the onscreen participants investigate the medical and civil liberties issues exemplified by the case of "Typhoid Mary" Mallon. Facing off as either Board of Health officials or friends of Mary Mallon, workshop participants debate the typhoid carrier's fate.G
