NOVA  "Cracking Your Genetic Code"  What will it mean when most of us can afford to have the information in our DNA read, stored and available for analysis? We meet cancer patients returned to robust health and a cystic fibrosis sufferer breathing easily because scientists have been able to pinpoint and neutralize the genetic abnormalities underlying their conditions. But we also meet ethicists who are convinced we need to consider the moral dilemmas raised by this new technology.G

Rick Steves' Europe  "Belfast and the Best of Northern Ireland"  Rick tours bustling Belfast and looks at some of the city's politically charged neighborhoods. Then he heads for the Antrim Coast to enjoy Portrush, Ulster's Coney Island.G

Smart Travels - Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa  "Vancouver & Victoria, British Columbia"  As Canada's door to the Pacific Rim, Vancouver is a vibrant mix of European heritage and Asian cultures. In this vital, young and dynamic city Rudy explores the mix of cultures that inspires world-class cuisine, a spirited night life and modern Asian shopping centers. Nature is ever present and Rudy visits a temperate rainforest and rides a gondola to the top of a mountain just minutes from downtown. D

The Desert Speaks  "Treasures of the Galapagos"  The second of three episodes in the Galapagos Islands finds host David Yetman hunting large cacti on a desert island. Along the way, he discovers flamingos in the middle of a huge lava lake, ghost crabs (so named for their quick disappearing act) and a variety of plant species endemic to certain islands. Yetman also explores the nesting grounds of sea turtles and finds a unique post office on the island of Floreana where pirates and whalers have used the same wooden container for centuries to leave or take mail depending on its destination. D

Lidia's Italy In America  "New England: Spicy and Sweet in New England"  Take a trip with Lidia to Gloucester, Massachusetts, a fishing village with a large Italian population, and then visit Providence, Rhode Island, where Lidia goes to the Scialo Brothers' Bakery. Lidia makes Spaghetti with Lobster Sauce and tries the Scialo Brothers' recipe for Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes. D

Rudy Maxa's World  "Mendoza, Argentina"  Rudy visits the heart of Argentine wine country nestled in a valley beneath the snow-capped Andes.G

The Jazzy Vegetarian  "Festive Lasagna Dinner"  Host Laura Theodore, prepares her "Festive Zucchini Lasagna," a delicious dish with a healthy twist. The meal starts with a simple to make, but fancy to serve, "Quick Carrot and Orzo Soup." "Raspberry Maple Tofu Whip with Fresh Berries" finishes this meal with a flourish. D

Cook's Country from America's Test Kitchen  "Southern Classics"  Bridget shows Chris how to make the ultimate Gumbo. Then, Jack challenges Chris to a tasting of long-grain white rice. And finally, Julia updates a lost recipe and shows Chris how to make Lane Cake. D

Austin City Limits  "Sonic Youth/The Black Keys"  Elder statesmen of alternative/indie/punk rock, band members re-create the wall of guitars. Then the Black Keys exhibit the muscular, no-nonsense sound of their minimalist blues-rock.G

Sesame Street  "Baby Bear's Baby Doll"  Baby Bear and Curly Bear are happily playing with dolls. Telly comes along and wants to show Baby Bear his new bulldozer, and Baby Bear quickly hides his doll behind his back and says that it is Curly's. They start to play with the bulldozer, but then Baby Bear suggests they need a driver and he offers his doll. D

Dinosaur Train  "Stargazing on the Night Train/Get Into Nature!"  The Pteranodon family rides a special 'Night Train" to another part of the Cretaceous Time Period, where they meet a Troodontid "cousin" of the Conductor's, Sidney Sinovenator, who knows more about the stars than anyone. Sidney takes the family up to his favorite stargazing spot, "Starry Hill," and teaches the kids why the stars seem to move across the night sky. When the kids build their own version of a nest on the beach, below their actual family nest up on the cliff, they get the idea to turn their beach nest into a clubhouse. D

Super Why!  "Molly's Dance Show"  The curtain rises on Princess Pea's dance recital but she's too scared to come out of the wings! Super Why and his friends head into the story Molly's Dance Show to meet a ballerina doll with similar stage fright. When Molly's dreams of performing come true, thanks to a fairy princess and some magic slippers, Princess Presto wonders what it will take for her to have confidence, too. Educational Objectives: To learn about self-confidence. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Incredible Journey/Bamboozled"  Incredible Journey - Nick and Sally are playing in their homemade Thingamajigger, when the Cat arrives to take them on a real adventure! Off they go to meet salmon Sam, who is returning to the pool where she hatched so she can lay her eggs. With the help of the Subber-e-blubber, they follow Samantha underwater, upriver on her incredible journey! Bamboozled - Sally needs to find a gift for her stuffed panda, Pammy. Who better to ask than a real panda? The Cat takes them to meet Zhu Zhu, a giant panda who helps the kids to discover all the wonderful things you can do with her favorite food, bamboo. D

Wild Kratts  "Flight of the Pollinators"  When a miniaturized Chris gets covered with pollen and ends up sticking to a bee, he's off into the remarkable world of the pollinators. Martin, Aviva, and the rest of the creature explorers must find Chris in an adventure that uncovers the amazing delivery system of plants and their animal partners. They learn that plants use animals to help them make their seeds through a process called pollination. D

Ucook! with Chef Bob   Chef Bob makes one of his classic dishes to start; pan seared chicken liver salad. This chicken liver is placed over fresh frisee lettuce and softly covered in smoked bacon and red wine vinaigrette. It's a great way to start the evening. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Normandy: War-Torn Yet Full of Life"  Rick explores the half-timbered charm of Rouen, reflects on Monet's lily ponds, peeks in on local artisans, and sees Honfleur's harbor with an easel. The adventure also includes composer Eric Satie's eccentric world, Normandy cuisine, a tour of the D-Day beaches and a visit to the abbey of Mont St. Michel.G

The Desert Speaks  "Giants on a Galapagos Island"  This program visits one of the few inhabited islands in the Galapagos. Host David Yetman and ecologist Yar Petryszyn explore the people and culture of the island of Santa Cruz with a stroll through the market at Puerto Ayora. Then it's off to visit the Darwin Research Station and its famous saddle back tortoises, which are being reintroduced to the area after being hunted close to extinction. D

Outdoor Idaho  "Backroad Adventures"  There's something mighty fine about a dirt road. And if you're willing to get off the pavement, Idaho's back roads will take you to some hidden gems. The Owyhee Uplands National Backcountry Byway, in southwestern Idaho; the Magruder Corridor, between two northern Idaho wilderness areas; and the Lolo Motorway, that follows portions of both the Nez Perce and Lewis & Clark trails -- if you can endure the bumps, these roads will provide the adventure!G
