The Desert Speaks  "Living Traditions of the Tohono O'Odham"  The Tohono O'Odham ("Desert People") live on the second-largest reservation in the United States, located southwest of Tucson, Arizona and share hundreds of miles with the Mexico border, across which some still live. Although many O'Odham live off the reservation and don't grow traditional crops, among the older members their language is still very much alive, as are many of the cultural traditions and beliefs. Learn how a concerned group of tribal members knowledgeable in these traditions are taking an active part in passing down practices of saguaro fruit harvesting and basket weaving to their children and grandchildren. Abby suggests granting Baby Bear a wish so that he isn't afraid of bees. D

Dinosaur Train  "Erma Eoraptor/Under The Volcano"  Erma Eoraptor - Buddy, Tiny, and Mrs. Pteranodon go on an expedition to find Erma Eoraptor, a member of the first species of dinosaur that ever lived. They venture off the beaten paths in the Triassic to find Erma, and then bring her back for a ride on the Dinosaur Train! Under the Volcano - Tiny, Buddy, and Mr. Pteranodon take the Dinosaur Train to Volcano Valley to see the local volcano. The sight is so spectacular, they go back for the rest of the family only to discover they've already gone to see the volcano! The merry mix-up concludes as the whole family meets up to marvel at the sight of Mt. D

Super Why!  "The Story of the Tooth Fairy"  Whyatt has lost his very first tooth! When his mom tells Whyatt that the Tooth Fairy will come and take his tooth, Whyatt wants to know what happens if he wants to KEEP it? Super Why and his friends decide the best person to ask is the Tooth Fairy herself, so they set off to meet her in person. With a little bit of magic (and a little bit of floss) the reading heroes are able to get all their questions answered.G

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Hooray for Hair/Ice Is Nice"  Hooray for Hair - Sally and Nick are getting their hair cut today; maybe they should try new hairstyles! A trip to meet three of Cat's friends (and some styling help from the Wig-o-lator) will help them decide! Should they have Yak hair? No, too hot! How about hair like a fur seal? Not quite, too short. A porcupine? No way! How will they ever get a hug from their moms with hair that spiky? They decide that the hair they have is what's perfect for them! Ice is Nice - Nick and Sally want some nice cold lemonade, but there's no more ice cubes in Sally's fridge! A trip to Freeze-your-knees Snowland will fix that! They meet Cat's friend Polly the polar bear who introduces Sally and Nick to all the different kinds of ice that make up her home. After trying many types of ice, they find the kind that will be perfect for their lemonade!. D

Wild Kratts  "Mimic"  While exploring why some animals mimic the looks of others, Martin and Chris encounter a cheetah cub and its mom. But before they know it, evil fashion designer, Donita Donata, 'cat-naps' the startled mom right in front of their eyes. The Wild Kratts team springs into action on a rescue mission before Donita adds the momma cheetah to her new fall line. D

Dialogue for Kids  "Animal Migration"  Animal migrations don't just happen in the spring and arent just something birds do. Lots of different animals migrate and for good reasons. Why? What is it that drives animals to move from one part of the country to another and then back again? Joan Cartan-Hansen and her guest scientists Jeff Knetter, wildlife biologist with the Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game and Vicky Runnoe, conservation educator with the Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game, will answer questions about animal migration.G

Dialogue  "Colum McCann"  Marcia Franklin talks with Colum McCann, author of Let the Great World Spin. The book, which has been called the "first great 9/11 novel," won the 2009 National Book Award for fiction, and was Amazon.com's 2009 Book of the Year. The interview is part of Dialogue's ongoing "Conversations from the Sun Valley Writers' Conference" and was taped at the 2011 conference.G

The Desert Speaks  "Kickin' West On Route 66"  Join host David Yetman and his travel companion, ecologist Yar Petryszyn, as they travel along the historic Route 66 through some of the finest deserts in the United States. Beginning near the border of Texas and New Mexico, they cruise by convertible along the road that allowed thousands of Americans to make the journey to California. The Desert Speaks also takes the time to stop at some of the memorable locales along the way. D

This production of "Sense and Sensibility" was adapted by Andrew Davies and directed by John Alexander. D
