Everyday Edisons  "Hey, Good Lookin', Whatcha Got Cookin'?"  Outdoor cooking has been a part of the American heritage since the country was founded, but with Al Contarino's new concept in grilling, it has taken on a whole new look. The Continous Convection Grill, as he calls it, works on the premise that heat escapes from your grill every time you peek into it. The inventor has built a prototype that proposes a way to watch what's coming on the grill without lifting the lid; to monitor burgers, steaks or chicken without hovering over a hot flame. D

Everyday Edisons  "A Hot and Steamy Clean"  Sponges, dishcloths and soapy rags dipped into a bucket or sink over and over may not be the most hygienic way to clean your kitchen. That's why prolific inventor, Eric Huber, decided to do something about it. His idea was a device that contains water from the tap that after putting in the microwave can hold the temperature to the point of steaming while you wipe off surfaces. D

Saving The Ocean  "The Sacred Island"  In the second episode, host Carl Safina travels to the island of Pemba, part of the Zanzibar chain off the East African coast, to discover a remarkable story of local villages winning control over their vital fishing grounds. Once threatened by resort development, Pemba's pristine reefs and lagoons are now managed by, and for, the fishermen. Carl fishes with the locals in traditional dhows and dugout canoes, and meets the influential Imams whose sermons explained how the Koran requires good stewardship of the world and its resources. D
