Primary Sources: Workshops In American History  "Korea and the Cold War: A Case Study"  This workshop looks at the first use of military force under the Truman Doctrine, and the Korean War as the first practical manifestation of America's Cold War "containment" policy. Using works by George Kennan and Walter Lippman, treaties, and the texts of the Marshall Plan and the Truman Doctrine, the onscreen participants take on the roles of major military, political, and strategic players at a mock Senate hearing to decide whether to intervene in Korea in 1950.G

Barbecue University with Steven Raichlen  "The American Tropics - Hawaii"  Raichlen presents tuna London Broil prepared with sesame-pepper-washai crust and honey lime huli huli chicken.G

Rachel's Favorite Food at Home  "Hearty Breakfast"  Rachel creates a hearty breakfast menu of granola, banana and peanut butter muffins; white soda bread scones; the perfect scrambled eggs; pancakes with bacon and maple; syrup and tropical fruits with honey and lime juice. D

Barbecue University with Steven Raichlen  "The Best of the Breast"  Raichlen demonstrates how to keep white meat juicy when grilling and barbecuing. Dishes include tarragon chicken paillards and maple-smoked turkey.G

New Scandinavian Cooking with Andreas Viestad  "Honey-Coated Lamb"  On a small island off the west coast, Andreas cooks stewed lamb and cabbage. In the ancient Viking city of Bergen, he prepares the local fish chowder and a honey-coated leg of lamb with winter vegetables.G

Jacques Pepin: More Fast Food My Way  "Light and Luscious"  Jacques makes rigatoni with lettuce and eggplant and sauteed julienned endive. For dessert there are sauteed stuffed figs with blueberries.G

New Scandinavian Cooking with Andreas Viestad  "Back In Paradise"  Andreas visits his family's hometown on the southern tip of Norway. He prepares honey-glazed smoked duck with vegetables and artichokes with wild garlic mayonnaise.G

Chefs A' Field: Culinary Adventures That Begin On The Farm  "Chef George Schenk-American Flatbread: Waitsfield, VT"  Chef Schenk learns how to tap maple trees for their sugar and joins farmer Easty Long in making maple syrup-a secret ingredient in the chef's renowned Flatbread pizza. Recipes: Flatbread Maple Syrup Tomato Sauce; Flatbread with Organic Sausage; Smoked Salmon & Asparagus Flatbread; Raspberry-Maple Syrup Vinaigrette. D
