Dialogue  "Author Louisa Thomas: Conversations from the Sun Valley Writers' Conference"  Host Marcia Franklin interviews journalist Louisa Thomas about her book "Louisa: The Extraordinary Life of Mrs. Adams." It looks at the life and times of First Lady Louisa Catherine Adams, the wife of President John Quincy Adams and our first foreign-born First Lady. Thomas uses Adams' own letters and memoirs -- including some letters she discovered for the first time -- to draw an intimate portrait of a woman whom historians had previously overlooked. She found that although Adams was both extremely self-deprecating and ill much of her life, she also had great fortitude, traveling by herself in Europe during dangerous times. She also helped her husband greatly with his campaigns. The book looks at the complex relationship between Louisa and John Quincy -- and the friendship she developed with Abigail and John Adams, his parents. Thomas illuminates not only the life of this fascinating woman but also political life of America in the 1800s.G

Space Race  "Race For Survival (1959-1961)"  Both the Americans and Soviets are planning manned space flights with the development of the Vostok programme (USSR) and Project Mercury (USA). Yellowstone: Land to Life   Filmmaker John Grabowska presents a lyrical interpretation of the geologic story of Yellowstone. Formation of glaciers, mountain ranges and the gigantic caldera of a supervolcano provide a sweeping saga. A short concluding film "Yellowstone's Cascade Corner" features the portion of the national park that lies in Idaho and is filmed and produced by Idaho Public Television.G
