Pati's Mexican Table  "Chachi's Champoton Kitchen"  Pati heads to the coastal city of Champoton, located an hour south of Campeche. She meets her friend Chachi at the local market to gather groceries for a family dinner at Hacienda Niop. After tasting their way through the market, they head to the hacienda to prepare the area's prized dishes Pollo Pibil, a gigantic tamale cooked underground and pan de cazon, a local version of lasagna made with shark, beans, and spicy tomato sauce. D

Mexico -- One Plate at a Time with Rick Bayless  "Baking Up Comfort"  David Sterling, chef and author of "Yucatan: Recipes from a Culinary Expedition," brings Rick on a whirlwind tour of the peninsula. The pair of Oklahoma-born, Mexico-obsessed chefs begin their journey with a conversation in Hunucma, where Dona Lupita serves home-cooked meals at the kitchen table of her family's cocina economica. Though the Yucatan is not known for its bakeries, David goes to the rustic wood-burning ovens at Panaderia Liz in Merida. D

Globe Trekker  "Road Trip: Patagonia"  Zay Harding takes a journey along Ruta 40 by climbing Volcan Lanin, the highest peak in the area. Traveling down the Seven Lakes Drive, he passes through the Lake District in San Carlos de Bariloche, heads next to the former hippie colony of El Bolson, boards the La Trochita steam train, searches for Butch Cassidy's hideout in Cholila and drives on to Trevelin, a town founded by Welsh immigrants that maintains that culture. Zay then makes the long trek to Cueva de las Manos to admire its incredible rock art, reaches El Chalten for the spectacular view of Mount Fitz Roy before the final leg that takes him to the Cabo Virgenes lighthouse, the last stop on Ruta 40. D

Islands Without Cars with Kira Hesser  "Ireland's Inis Meain"  According to legend, Oliver Cromwell, the 17th-century fanatical Prostestant "Lord Protector" of England, gave the Irish Catholics a choice: They could go to hell or go to Connacht. Some went farther, to islands off Ireland's west coast, including Inis Meain. Hesser explores Ireland's pre-colonial past as the 150 Gaelic-speaking inhabitants of this wet rock in the Atlantic try to figure out how to manage their legacy and lifestyle just outside of the contaminating influences of the modern world.G
