Rick and Pedro discuss his challenges and successes of his approach over a traditional Yucatecan meal at Faison y Venado. Rick pays a visit to a lamb farm in Tizimin for a conversation with a rancher, then heads to C-Grill, Pedro's hip restaurant on the shores of Playa del Carmen, where he makes a beautiful roasted lamb in adobo. In this episode, Lidia shows the classic technique of poaching an egg and making a warm mushroom salad: a bed of frisee with a warm medley of mixed wild mushrooms, pancetta and a poached egg; eggs poached in tomato sauce: a simple and delicious tomato sauce poached egg served with slices of grilled country bread and brutti ma buoni, a classic Italian hazelnut cookie made with meringue. Chef's Life  "Onions and Avetts"  Spring onions kick off the season as Vivian takes a break from penning her first cookbook to prepare dinner for beginner farmers. Though the Avett Brothers make an appearance, the underdog spring onion steals the show, playing both star and support. D

Great American Seafood Cook-Off   Fires blazed and seafood sizzled as New Orleans hosted the fifth annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off in August 2008. During the two-day competition, 15 chefs from 14 different states prepared their best dishes using the seafood indigenous to their state. Famed New Orleans chef John Besh, the winner of the 2004 competition and the 2006 James Beard Foundation's Best Chef of the Southeast, hosted the event. D

Burt Wolf: Travels & Traditions  "Basking with the Basques"  The Basque country straddles the border between southwest France and northeast Spain, but except for their passports the Basques are neither French nor Spanish -- they are Basque. They speak the oldest European language still spoken, so old that no one can tell where it came from. In this program Burt travels through the Basque country, visits the hometown of the first person to sail completely around the world, looks at the early works of Andy Warhol in the Bilbao Museum, and tastes what the Basques are eating and drinking. D
