Further inland, a stop in one of Michoacan's tropical deciduous forests reveals some interesting vegetation, including the Sandbox Tree, which bears explosive fruit, and the malicious Mala Mujer shrub with its sharp, stinging hairs. The two-day competition offers 63 miles of biking, 22 miles of running, 19 miles of kayaking, and a swim across a bay on Lake Pend Oreille.G
