National Parks: America's Best Idea  "The Scripture of Nature (1851-1890)"  In 1851, word spreads of a beautiful area of California's Yosemite Valley that is attracting people who would exploit its scenery for commercial gain and those who wish to preserve it. Scottish-born John Muir champions protection. In 1864, Congress passes an act to reserve it for "public use, resort and recreation" and hands control to the state of California. Meanwhile in Wyoming territory, visitors are attracted to a landscape of geysers, mud pots and sulfur pits. Congress protects this land in 1872. But because it is in a territory, Yellowstone becomes America's first national park. Part 1 of 6G

Caillou  "Thoughtful Caillou"  Helping Mrs. Howard: Mrs. Howard has sprained her ankle, and Caillou wants to help her around the house. Only, Caillou worries that his "help" is creating havoc - until Mrs. Howard explains that Caillou has been a big help - simply by being there as a friend. Barney & Friends  "Days of the Week and Sharing"  Days of the Week: BJ, Baby Bop and Riff can hardly wait for the petting zoo that is coming to the park! Barney helps them pass the time while teaching them about the days of the week. When the animals finally do arrive, everyone realizes that it was all worth the wait! Sharing: Riff feels terrible when he accidentally wrecks BJ's beloved scooter! BJ loved that scooter more than almost anything! So Riff and Baby Bop decide to have a sale in the park to raise money to buy BJ a new scooter. D

Thomas & Friends  "Good Deeds"  It is a busy day in Sodor as Knapford Station is being decorated. Emily is collecting the flowers for the new window boxes, but when Mavis does not say hello, Emily assumes she is sad and chuffs to the quarry to cheer her up with some of the flowers. The flowers end up in the way of the engines' work. D
