Alzheimer's: The Caregiver's Perspective   According to the Alzheimer's Association, more than 15 million family members and friends provided 18.1 billion hours of unpaid care in 2015 to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. Alzheimer's is more than memory loss; it affects many generations and is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. In ALZHEIMER'S: THE CAREGIVER'S PERSPECTIVE, caretakers share their diverse experiences of caring for loved ones in the world of dementia - from diagnosis to saying the long goodbye. D

Aging Matters - End of Life   Personal stories of families and interviews with scholars, doctors and medical ethicists are woven together to examine the complicated experience of dying. The program explores the radical transformation of death and dying in the United States over the past 150 years, Americans' cultural unwillingness to face death, and the efforts in place to change how Americans understand and talk about dying. Among several topics, the program addresses the role of advance directives, palliative care and hospice in an end-of-life strategy. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Kathy Mattea hosts the program and shares her personal experience caring for family members suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.G
